Flint High School is seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and resilient Learning & Pastoral Coach to join our dedicated Alternative Provision Team.This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people who require additional support to engage successfully with education. Working under the direction of the Alternative Provision Lead, you will provide high-quality pastoral, behavioural and learner support for pupils accessing a personalised alternative curriculum.The successful candidate will play a central role in supporting learners who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Additional Learning Needs (ALN), behavioural barriers or other vulnerabilities that impact their engagement with education. Working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers and external agencies, you will coordinate targeted interventions, promote positive behaviour, improve attendance, develop learner confidence and resilience, and support successful reintegration into mainstream education where appropriate.As a key member of our Alternative Provision Team, you will help create a calm, nurturing and aspirational environment where learners feel safe, valued and supported to overcome barriers to learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.This post is offered on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension or permanency subject to funding and the needs of the school.
The successful candidate will have
HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.Experience of working positively with secondary-aged learners, particularly those with SEMH, ALN, behavioural, attendance or wellbeing needs.Experience of planning, coordinating or delivering targeted interventions that improve learner engagement, attendance and outcomes.The ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people while maintaining high expectations and acting as a positive role model.A sound understanding of positive behaviour support, restorative approaches and strategies that promote emotional regulation, resilience and learner engagement.Experience of working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers and external agencies to support vulnerable learners.Excellent communication, organisational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to contribute effectively to learner reviews, personalised support plans and reintegration programmes.The ability to work independently, use initiative and remain calm, resilient and solution-focused in challenging situations.A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, equality and achieving the very best outcomes for every learner.A willingness to engage in continued professional learning and contribute to the ongoing development of the school's Alternative Provision.Why choose us?At Flint High School, you will join a welcoming, supportive and dedicated team committed to ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
