About this role
Although the formal job title for this position is Care Coordinator, we want to be completely clear about what the job actually involves.
This is, at its core, a GP Receptionist role.
The title Care Coordinator can sometimes give the impression that this is a clinical, care-management or specialist NHS role. It isn’t. The successful applicant will be working primarily in GP reception and administration, dealing directly with patients, managing telephone calls, booking appointments and supporting the day-to-day running of the practice.
We want applicants to be under no illusion about the nature of the role before applying.
This is a busy, demanding and sometimes challenging GP reception environment. You may have multiple telephone lines ringing, patients waiting at reception, clinicians needing assistance and administrative tasks requiring your attention — all at the same time.
Patients can sometimes be frustrated, upset or demanding, and you will need to remain calm, patient and professional.
There will be busy days, difficult conversations, repetitive tasks and times when you need to think on your feet. We therefore need someone who is resilient, organised, able to multitask and genuinely comfortable working in a busy patient-facing environment.
