Thisisan exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team of consultant paediatricians within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The post holder will provide consultant leadership for children and young people with diabetes and endocrine disorders in South Buckinghamshire, contributing to the Trust's successful paediatric diabetes service andmaintainingnational quality standards. In addition, they will undertake general paediatric and neonatal responsibilities,participatein the consultant on-call rota, and support the delivery of high-quality acute paediatric care across both hospital sites.

This is a full time (10 PA) substantivepostwith cross site workingdelivering outpatientclinics at Wycombe Hospital, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Amersham Hospital.

Clinical Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a team of consultants and undertake inpatient and outpatient work inNeonates andGeneralPaediatrics including inpatientsandchildren admitted to theobservation ward.Theseclinicalareashave day on call (attendingweeks). Oncall activitiesare ona pro-rata basis. In addition to the general paediatricsthis post holder will also have specialist clinics indiabetes to ensure we continue to meet the standards to achieve thebestpracticetariff.

There will be3clinicseveryweek

1general and 2diabetes.These will be inStoke,Wycombe or Amersham Hospital to cover the needs of the patients in the South of thecounty.Dr Dutta covers the Diabetes andEndocrine service for patients in the North of the county.

The post holder will be Paediatrician of the week (POW) and Neonatologist of the week (NOW) totalling 7on callsayear. Therewill also be attending weeks for theChildren’sObservationUnit(COU)and the number of these willbe1-2 weeks / year.During these days s/he will have no other clinical commitments.

The post holder will have resident dutiescovering“Twilight” shifts from 16:00-22:00 within the Children’s Emergency Department. Thiswill be a weekend twilight shift to cover the Friday to Sunday evenings for4weekends a year to ensure that college standards for facing the future are fully met.
