This role is within the Children Looked After Team in Shepton Mallet, Mendip.
We are needing a locum social worker to cover a rare vacant position within a settled team of social workers.
Our social workers work with children aged 0 to 18, although our base office is Shepton Mallet, they could be living anywhere in the country so you will be expect to do a lot of travelling.
We are also Somerset's dedicated team for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC).
The team works in partnership with Families, communities and professionals to achieve safe, positive outcomes.
What you’ll do - key responsibilities
• Build trusting relationships with children and families, using strengths based and trauma informed practice.
• Be allocated a mixed age range of children 0-18 with varying levels of complexity.
• Carry out high quality, child centred assessments to safeguard children and young people.
• Complete statutory responsibilities including visits to children in their homes.
• Complete good quality care and pathway plans, and provide support in TAC and PEP meetings.
• Complete good quality court and adoption work, including later life letters and lifestory books.
• Prepare clear, timely reports and documentation, including for courts and decision making forums.
• Maintain accurate, high quality records and contribute to team quality assurance and service improvement.
• Promote equality, diversity and children’s rights through anti discriminatory practice.
• Participate in duty work, professional development, supervision and service initiatives as required.
