What skills and experience we're looking for

Essential

• Appropriate level of Literacy & Numeracy skills, equivalent to level 2 or above
• Knowledge and experience of the requirements of safeguarding within schools, including Child Protection
• Motivation to work with children and young people
• Commitment to, and belief in, the equal value of all students
• Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
• Proven work experience in administration
• Strong basic ICT skills, especially in the use of Word and Excel
• Appropriate level of data protection, security and confidentiality awareness
• Able to work as part of a team
• Be reliable and consistent

Desirable

• Appropriate qualifications (LSA HLTA) or experience of supporting students in school
• Knowledge of database management
• Prior relevant experience of working in a school
• Knowledge and understanding of the SEN Code of Practice
• Experience of using Compass (School’s Information Management System)
• Knowledge of external children and young people support services
• First aid training

Further details about the role

The inclusion room is a study space for SEND students who are not attending a full curriculum, this may be just for a couple of lessons a week or more frequent depending upon need and circumstance. This space allows students time to catch up with core subjects and other work, using both online and written resources, and build their confidence. The successful candidate will support the learning and manage the behaviour of the students within the Learning Support inclusion room, ensuring high expectations are in place that mirror the rest of the school.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and committed to supporting those students who have additional needs. Experience is desirable but not essential, we are looking for someone who is patient and able to relate to students in a calm, supportive and positive manner. Every day is different, so we need someone who is resilient and works well as part of a team.
