Nurse practitioner

Clinical Responsibilities Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking and physical examination. Analyse and interpret clinical information, such as x-rays and blood test, to support diagnosis and clinical decision-making. Develop and implement appropriate management plans, including treatment, discharge, referral and escalation of care where required. Independently manage patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations within scope of practice. Perform advanced clinical skills and procedures relevant to the service. Identify and respond appropriately to medical emergencies and deteriorating patients. Provide health promotion, education and advice to patients and carers. Communication and Team Working Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team. Work collaboratively with Emergency Department clinicians and specialty teams to ensure timely and appropriate patient care. Provide specialist advice and support to colleagues regarding patient management. Leadership and Management Support the day-to-day operational management of the service. Contribute to workforce planning, rota management and maintaining safe staffing levels. Monitor standards of care and contribute to clinical governance, risk management and service improvement initiatives. [ Contribute to the development and review of clinical pathways, protocols and guidelines. Education and Development Act as a mentor, clinical educator and role model for students and junior staff. Participate in teaching, training and supervision activities. Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development and reflective practice. Quality Improvement and Governance Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records. Participate in audit, research and quality improvement projects to enhance patient care and service delivery. Ensure practice complies with Trust policies, professional standards and evidence-based guidelines.
