CNC Machining Operator

Overview and scope of job role

The CNC Turning Centre Setter/Operator is required to set and run high precision, high value parts to finish size with a tight specification. The person will be expected to work within a defined procedural framework, using SPC (Statistical Process Control) to control and predict process deviations to ensure an exceptional high quality standard with minimal scrap levels.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

• Running a number machines

• Replacing and setting cutting tools

• Preparing collets (work holding)

• Product change-over which will involve removing the tool-holders and resetting zero points

• Selecting and changing programmes as needed

• Measurement of parts produced to specifications and record on computer

• Maintain a low level of machining burrs

• Machine wellbeing, including removal of swarf, lubrication, cleaning and reporting repairs

• To be responsible for and carry out any duties in support of the Environmental Management System as defined in section 1.5 of the EMS manual;

• Ensure compliance with Company rules; and

• Any other duties as reasonably required by management.
