Health & Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Management

• Own the day-to-day management of Health & Safety across all sites

• Develop, implement and maintain H&S policies, procedures and documentation

• Ensure ongoing legal and regulatory compliance

• Advise managers and employees, and promote a positive safety culture

• Carry out regular workplace inspections, tracking actions to completion

Risk & Workplace Assessments

• Develop, review and maintain risk assessments for activities, equipment and processes

• Identify hazards with managers/employees and implement controls

• Coordinate specialist assessments (noise, manual handling, COSHH, fire safety, etc.)

• Review assessments after incidents or changes to working practices

Training & Fire Safety

• Identify training needs and manage H&S training programmes, including Fire Marshal and First Aid

• Maintain training and competency records

• Manage fire risk assessments, emergency procedures and drills

• Liaise with external providers on fire safety systems and equipment

• Maintain H&S signage and communications

Incident Management & Audits

• Manage reporting, recording and investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses

• Identify root causes and implement corrective/preventative actions

• Run the annual internal audit programme and prepare for external audits

• Report on H&S performance to the Operations Director

Contractors, Quality & ISO

• Ensure contractors and third parties comply with Xyfil's H&S requirements, including inductions and documentation checks

• Support ISO 9001 and GMP standards, and related internal/external audits

• Work with Operations and Quality teams to maintain high standards
