Are you ready to play a key role in delivering large-scale business change? We are seeking a Head of Finance - Business Transformation to join our Finance team at Boots in Nottingham. This is a high-impact role at the heart of strategic transformation programmes, providing financial leadership, governance, and insight to ensure successful delivery of change initiatives across the business.

What you’ll be doing

As the Head of Finance - Business Transformation, you will act as the lead finance partner to the Programme Director and transformation leadership team, ensuring fit-for-purpose governance that enables delivery, transparency, and value realisation across all programmes.

Your role will involve

  • Acting as the strategic finance partner to Programme Directors and transformation teams, shaping the financial direction of key initiatives.
  • Designing and embedding proportionate financial governance frameworks that balance control with speed, ensuring investments are aligned to maximising business value.
  • Leading consolidated programme financial reporting, delivering clear, forward-looking insight to executive and board-level stakeholders.
  • Providing constructive challenge and enablement to programme teams on budgets, forecasts, risks, and benefits, encouraging informed decisions.
  • Ensuring disciplined investment appraisal and ongoing value tracking, with a clear focus on ROI, benefits realisation, and strategic outcomes across transformation initiatives.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing finance team that is comfortable operating in ambiguity, challenging the status quo and enabling change

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).

  • Significant experience in senior finance roles, ideally within transformation, change, or programme environments.
  • Proven ability to partner at executive level, influencing Programme Directors and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in financial governance, investment control, and large-scale programme reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial insight into clear, commercially focused guidance for non-finance leaders and executives.

It would be great if you also have- Experience supporting major transformation programmes (e.g., ERP, digital, operating model change).

  • Familiarity with programme governance frameworks and portfolio management approaches.
  • Strong understanding of benefits tracking, value realisation, and investment appraisal techniques.
