About this role
To work both autonomously and as an integral member of the theatre team, including maternity theatres, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of theatre services. The role involves managing and replenishing supplies for the operating theatres, supporting stock controllers with unpacking, and ensuring all stock is delivered to the appropriate areas. Responsibilities also include unloading instrument sets and placing them correctly in their designated locations to maintain safe and effective theatre workflows.
- Unpacking supplies— Carry out the physical unpacking of supplies and place them in the correct stock locations, working closely with the theatre stock controllers.
- Transporting cages— Collect cages from the designated collection point and deliver them to the theatres department.
- Stock rotation— Ensure stock rotation procedures are followed and notify stock controllers of any items approaching expiry.
- Store security— Maintain secure store areas, ensuring access is restricted to authorised Trust staff only.
- Store maintenance— Keep all storage areas clean, tidy, and free from obstructions, ensuring fire exits remain clear at all times.
- Liaison with Theatre Supplies— Maintain close communication with the Theatre Supplies team to support smooth operational flow.
- Cross‑team collaboration— Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Trust’s Procurement and Warehouse teams.
- Delivery queries— Inform the stock controller of any issues relating to stock or non‑stock deliveries.
- Instrument set management— Ensure instrument sets are unloaded and placed correctly within the designated instrument set storage areas in theatres.
