Engineering Manager (Energy Recovery)

Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Salary
Circa £75,000 - £80,000 per annum + 20% Annual Bonus + Private Medical
Our client is a national leader in energy recovery and an ethical firm dedicated to renewable energy solutions. This state-of-the-art Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) processes over 300,000 tonnes of waste annually, generating power for 60,000 homes.
As the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will lead all engineering aspects at the facility. Your goal is to ensure optimal long-term plant availability, preserve asset value, and maintain strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Departmental Leadership
Provide day-to-day management of the Engineering & Maintenance team, including direct reports (Mechanical, EC&I, and Business Support) and indirect staff.

Maintenance Strategy
Responsible for the efficient planning and execution of all maintenance activities, including planned shutdowns and reactive repairs.

Asset Management
Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to its full potential to deliver a robust asset management system.

Financial Accountability
Manage departmental OPEX and lifecycle CAPEX budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities while meeting financial targets.

Safety & Compliance
Control a Safe System of Working and ensure all activities align with statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Contractor Management
Oversee contractors to ensure delivery against KPIs and adherence to site safety rules.

Technical Oversight
Oversee plant modifications in line with Management of Change procedures and manage all statutory inspections.
Requirements

Qualifications
Engineering & Maintenance qualifications at Degree, HND, or HNC level (or equivalent).

Technical Knowledge
Expertise in pressure systems, steam turbines, electrical generation, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

Experience
Proven track record leading teams and contractors within the power or process industry to deliver agreed KPIs.

Systems Proficiency
Direct experience working with CMMS and a strong understanding of Preventative Maintenance Systems.

Legislative Expertise
Solid understanding of H&S legislation relevant to the power industry and CDM outage projects.

Leadership Skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to solve problems effectively under time pressure.

Driving Licence
A full, clean driving licence is highly desirable
