The Job

Agricultural Recruitment Specialists are working on behalf of a well-established agricultural supplies business to recruit an Agricultural Shop Manager based in Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced retail professional with a strong understanding of the agricultural sector to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a busy rural retail operation.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the store’s daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient stock management, and a well-organised retail environment. You will play a key role in supporting local farmers, smallholders, and rural customers by providing expert product advice and building long-term customer relationships.

Responsibilities will include managing opening and closing procedures, maintaining stock levels, ordering supplies, and overseeing inventory management processes. You will ensure the shop remains well presented, compliant with health and safety standards, and operates efficiently at all times.

The role will also involve monitoring sales performance, implementing strategies to drive revenue growth, and maintaining strong working relationships with local farmers, suppliers, and customers. Delivering a high standard of customer care and practical agricultural support will be central to the position.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have previous retail management experience, ideally within the agricultural, rural, or country store sector. You will possess strong knowledge of farming, livestock, feed, fencing, agricultural supplies, or related rural products.

You will be a confident communicator with excellent customer service skills and the ability to build strong relationships with customers and suppliers alike. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy retail environment are essential.

Candidates should also have basic IT skills and experience using stock management systems. A forklift certificate would be advantageous but is not essential.

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
