Band 2/3 Healthcare Assistant required for Danesbury Neurological Centre
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team. You will be working alongside our trained nursing and therapy staff assisting them in the day to day care and management of our patients to ensure they receive safe, high quality nursing care on our Neurological Rehabilitation unit in Welwyn.
We are inviting individuals to apply into a band 2 CSW role. We are able to offer support and guidance with completing a care certificate, on completion of this there will be an option to progress to a band 3 CSW role on successful completion of your Hertfordshire Community Trust Band 3 CSW competencies associated with the job role.

Key Responsibilities
Undertake personal care duties including bathing, toileting, dressing, supporting with meals, and assisting patients with activities of daily living. Ensure the patient’s bed space is clean, tidy, safe, and that essential items are within easy reach. Deliver care in line with Trust policies, infection prevention, and health and safety guidelines, maintaining concentration throughout the day with occasional interruptions. Contribute to patient record keeping by recording basic clinical information such as fluid balance, nutrition, height, weight, and other relevant observations. Support and encourage patient independence and self‑care. Ensure equipment and stores are well maintained and report any faulty items. Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Progression to Band 3
On progression, responsibilities will include undertaking patient observations (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturations, temperature, respirations, blood glucose monitoring and GCS), urine collection and testing, wound swabs, wound observation and simple dressings, and removal of peripheral cannulas.

The post holder will carry out a broad range of patient care activities under supervision of a qualified nurse, maintaining patient privacy and dignity at all times. The post holder will be required to work a rotational shift pattern between long days 11.5 hour shifts and 11.5 hour night duty shifts, covering Sunday to Saturday, 7 days a week, weekends and bank holidays.
