Lister Ward and the Discharge Lounge are looking for a motivated and organised Ward Clerk to join our team on a permanent part‑time/job‑share basis (15 hours per week). This is a key role at the heart of our ward, supporting both patients and staff by ensuring the smooth running of day‑to‑day operations.

As our Ward Clerk, you will provide essential administrative, clerical and I.T. support, helping the team deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care. Your responsibilities will include maintaining accurate computer and paper‑based patient records, supporting data entry for staffing rosters and leave, preparing ward documentation, and coordinating a range of ward activities to keep everything running efficiently.

The Ward Administrator plays a vital role in supporting the smooth running of the ward by delivering high‑quality administrative, clerical and I.T. support. Key duties include maintaining accurate computer & paper‑based patient records, updating staffing rosters and leave information, preparing ward documentation, and coordinating day‑to‑day ward activities. Role requires both following specific instructions from the healthcare team and working independently within established procedures.

Main responsibilities include greeting and assisting patients, relatives, staff and visitors, managing telephone and in‑person enquiries, and ensuring relevant departments are kept informed of changes such as admissions or discharges. The postholder will handle mail, prepare documentation, order stationery, and provide required statistical data.

Clinical admin duties include accurate data entry to Trust systems, supporting ward rounds by preparing patient information, obtaining and highlighting outstanding test results, admitting and discharging patients on systems, completing referral and follow‑up documentation, and ensuring discharge processes are completed correctly. The role also involves managing patient valuables in line with policy.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining a safe and organised work area, monitoring ward access, reporting incidents, supporting infection control standards & ensuring medical records are prepared, maintained, filed and transferred appropriately.
