What you'll do

As the Commercial Programmes Manager at Sainsbury's, you will be at the forefront of driving transformative change and growth initiatives within the Commercial Division. Your role will involve leading end-to-end strategic thinking and employing an agile mindset to accelerate the delivery of complex programmes of work. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and leveraging your network of subject matter experts, you will drive change at pace through excellent strategic programme management, setting up efficient ways of working to support programme delivery and engaging critical governance meetings to ensure successful outcomes. By demonstrating a growth mindset, strong leadership, and a knack for innovative problem-solving, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative, managing risks, and building high-performing teams to drive impactful change and deliver measurable results.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience in programme or change management, with a track record of shaping and delivering complex strategic initiatives.
  • Strong strategic thinking capability, with the ability to connect end‑to‑end business activity and translate strategy into effective execution.
  • Ability to use data, insight, and external perspectives to inform decisions, driving complex projects and recommendations.
  • Proven stakeholder influencing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and engage effectively at senior levels across the business.
  • Strong organisational and planning capability, including managing timelines, priorities, and programme delivery.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional or matrix teams, driving alignment and delivery across different parts of the business.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to apply insight, supporting decision‑making that drives business performance.
  • Growth mindset and proactive approach, demonstrating curiosity, innovation, and continuous improvement in identifying opportunities and solving challenges.
