About this role
We are inviting applications for a full time, Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. This is a new appointment following the retirement of a previous colleague and represents the first step in re-establishing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services within East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
We would also welcome applications from those wishing to work part time.
All consultants in the department have a continuing and individual responsibility for the care of patient (adults and children) in their charge and a general responsibility to provide, in conjunction with their colleagues, an effective Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Service to meet the needs of the local population within the resources available.
Key tasks
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in OMFS
- Provision of out-patient services in general and head and neck services
- To work with colleagues, both medical and nursing to improve and advance the OMFS service
- To share with colleagues the responsibility for the management of the department.
- Supervision and where appropriate training of trainees, junior medical staff, nursing staff, primary care colleagues and medical students.
- Actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit
- Having responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
