Luma Education Recruitment are seeking a compassionate and skilled Care & Learning Support Assistant to provide holistic support to pupils with a range of care, health, and learning needs. This combined role bridges pastoral care with academic support, helping every child feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored 1
1 and small group academic and pastoral support
- Assist with personal care needs in line with individual care plans and school policies
- Support pupils with complex needs including SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and physical disabilities
- Implement and monitor individual health care plans (IHCPs) and risk assessments
- Assist teachers in delivering inclusive, differentiated lessons
- Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external agencies to ensure joined-up support
- Promote pupils' independence, wellbeing, and confidence across all areas of school life
- Maintain accurate records of care interventions, progress, and concerns
Requirements
- Experience working in a care, educational, or youth work setting
- Understanding of SEN, SEMH, and the social and emotional needs of vulnerable pupils
- Experience with or willingness to provide personal care support
- Warm, patient, and empathetic approach with firm but supportive boundaries
- Ability to adapt quickly to different environments and pupil needs
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills
- Enhanced DBS (on Update Service) required prior to starting
