About me
A 32-year-old high-functioning autistic woman with complex needs is seeking a compassionate and understanding Personal Assistant to support her with daily living and independence. She currently lives in the Northaw area of Hertfordshire (EN6) and is preparing for a future move into supported independent living within the Welwyn Hatfield area.
She has a caring and personable nature and often presents as neurotypical upon first impression. However, she experiences challenges associated with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Pedantic Semantic Syndrome, and a mild personality disorder. Sudden changes and disruptions to routine can be particularly difficult for her and may lead to frustration or emotional dysregulation. She is looking for someone patient, calm, and willing to build a trusting and supportive relationship.
Hours and rate of pay Approximately 5 hours per week
Flexible support on an “as needed” basis rather than fixed days or times
Location Northaw (EN6)
DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check
Right to Work and references will be needed.
Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required

What you would be doing… Support with paperwork and correspondence
Diary management and task organisation
Assisting with planning journeys and transportation
Encouraging focus and task completion
Supporting access to the community, including shopping and social activities
Providing emotional reassurance and structured support when needed
The role is community-based as well as home-based, and applicants must be willing to accompany the client to appointments and activities outside the home

Female (as requested by the client)
Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance
Have experience supporting neurodiverse individuals, particularly autistic adults with complex needs
Be patient, empathetic, calm, and reliable
Be confident working independently and adapting to changing support needs
An NVQ in Health & Social Care or similar qualification is preferred but not essential.
