Our client, a prestigious school in Bury St Edmunds, is seeking a dedicated and experienced part-time SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. As a part-time SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing tailored assistance to students with SEND, ensuring they have the resources, support, and guidance they need to thrive academically and socially. Your role will involve working closely with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), classroom teachers, and other support staff to implement individualised learning plans and strategies.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of our students. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEND, both in and out of the classroom
  • Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning programmes, adapted to meet the specific needs of each student
  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt lesson plans, materials, and resources to ensure accessibility and inclusivity
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining detailed records to track their academic and personal development
  • Offering emotional and social support to students, promoting their well-being and fostering a nurturing learning environment
  • Participating in regular meetings with the SENCO, teachers, and other professionals to discuss student progress and coordinate support strategies
  • Attending relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with SEND

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills

  • Relevant experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, supporting students with a range of learning needs
  • A strong understanding of SEND best practices and the ability to adapt your approach to meet the unique requirements of each student
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students with SEND reach their full potential
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest SEND research and teaching methodologies
