Masking Supervisor – Lead a Skilled Production Team

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Masking Supervisor to join our growing operation in Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hands-on Masking Supervisor to take ownership of daily departmental operations while driving quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.

The successful Masking Supervisor will oversee a team of 6 day-shift employees and coordinate effectively with 2 night-shift staff to ensure smooth workflow, strong communication, and consistent production output.

This role is ideal for someone with strong masking experience, leadership ability, and a proactive approach within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Masking Supervisor

Oversee the day-to-day running of the Masking Department

Lead, support, and motivate the masking team to achieve production targets

Interpret engineering drawings and train team members accordingly

Work closely with Inspection and Site Management to resolve technical queries

Allocate and prioritise workloads in line with Production Control requirements

Monitor productivity, quality standards, and team performance

Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives

Manage workflow bottlenecks and improve operational efficiency

Maintain masking templates and ensure staff are fully trained in their use

Monitor and maintain consumable stock levels within the department

Ensure health, safety, and quality standards are maintained at all times

Experience required for this role

Previous masking experience within manufacturing or engineering

Aerospace experience preferred, although other industries will be considered

Strong understanding of engineering drawings

Previous supervisory or leadership experience

Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills

Proactive and hands-on approach

Strong communication and team leadership abilities
