Premises Assistant

About this role

To ensure the smooth running of the premises which are used throughout the school day and ensure a secure and well maintained site.

The post holder will report to the Premises Supervisor who will co-ordinate and prioritise work across the various areas of responsibility and the site. • Site security. To lock/unlock the site as required. To ensure that the perimeter is secure and that the access gates are locked/unlocked as necessary. • Cleaning. To deal with any spills, leaks, unexpected areas of cleaning as they arise ensuring that the correct chemicals are used and signage put in place when necessary. To empty bins, litter pick and sweep to maintain a clean site internally and externally. • To undertake minor repairs as capable and directed. • To undertake more major projects in the school holidays including, but not limited to, decorating and more time-consuming tasks. • To distribute deliveries around the school. • To liaise with external contractors and accompany them if they are site whilst students are in school. • To drive school minibuses as required. Undertake regular checks and clean the minibuses. Ensure that services take place on a regular basis. • To maintain records o Asbestos – the asbestos records MUST be consulted before any work by the premises team or external contractors. o Health & Safety o Legionella o Premises contracts and maintenance undertaken o Fire Checks • To attend relevant training courses as required • To participate in marketing and liaison activities such as open evening and liaison events with schools and community organisations. Only one member of the premises team can be on leave at any time. The post holder may take annual leave during term time providing that it does not impact on the operation of the school. No annual leave will be granted for the last week of the school holidays.
