Design Technology Teacher – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role from September 2026

Duties as Design Technology Teacher

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Design Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and GCSE level
  • Teach GCSE Design Technology confidently, following exam specifications and schemes of work
  • Ensure lessons are practical, engaging, and inclusive, promoting creativity and technical skills
  • Maintain high standards of classroom management and workshop safety
  • Assess pupil progress accurately and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Support pupils in developing design, making, and evaluation skills
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and the ongoing development of the Design Technology department
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote pupil wellbeing at all times
  • Work effectively with colleagues to support whole-school priorities as a Design Technology Teacher

Ideal Design Technology Teacher

  • Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Proven experience teaching Design Technology within a secondary school setting
  • Ability to teach GCSE Design Technology confidently and effectively
  • Strong subject knowledge across relevant Design Technology specialisms
  • Confident classroom and practical workshop management skills
  • A reliable, adaptable, and committed approach to a long-term temporary role
  • Strong communication skills and a professional attitude
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high-quality Design Technology education
