Job Description
This role performs end-to-end laundry operations, utilizing a government-owned vehicle equipped with a powerlift to transport clean and soiled laundry between base and customer facilities while coordinating collection and delivery calls. Operators are responsible for receiving, sorting, counting, and meticulously documenting all items before safely executing full wash, dry, and mechanical pressing cycles to avoid damaging the garments. In addition to folding and preparing finished laundry, the operator maintains accurate processing records and performs routine housekeeping to ensure all washers, dryers, lint traps, sinks, laundry carts, and the delivery van remain clean and fully operational.
Qualifications and Key skills
A valid UK Driving license (Category B) is required. plus
A minimum of 6 months of general experience demonstrating the key skills listed below.
- Experience operating washers and dryers, to include setting proper heat and time for specific loads of laundry.
- Experience using a mechanical presser.
- Knowledge of the loading capacity of tumblers, extractors, or conditioners.
- Ability keep simple written records of the work processed.
- Knowledge and skill in operating a delivery truck/van and mechanical lift.

- You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
- You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
- You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
- You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set.
- You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Appointment is contingent upon passing a physical examination. You must be able to frequently lift objects weighing over 50 pounds.
- The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
