Lead Midwife for Infant Feeding | Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated midwife to join our maternity team as the lead infant feeding midwife. This role will provide strategic and clinical leadership for infant feeding services across maternity supporting the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in line with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative Standards.

You will be a passionate advocate for breastfeeding and responsive infant feeding, with excellent leadership, communication and teaching skills. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to promote safe, effective and inclusive infant feeding support for women, birthing people and families.

This is an excellent opportunity for a forward-thinking midwife to influence and develop infant feeding services while improving outcomes for families across our service.

The infant feeding lead midwife will provide visible clinical and professional leadership for infant feeding services, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and evidence-based care.

The post holder will

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the trusts infant feeding strategy and action plans
• Coordinate and support the maintenance of UNICEF baby friendly initiative standards and accreditation
• Provide specialist infant feeding support and clinical expertise for complex feeding situations
• Act as an expert on breastfeeding and infant feeding practice.
• Develop, deliver and evaluate infant feeding education and training programmes
• Lead on audit, quality improvement and service evaluation actives relating to infant feeding outcomes
• Promote inclusive, culturally sensitive and family-centred approached to infant feeding support
• Act as a professional role model, demonstrating compassionate leadership and advocating for high standards of care at all times
