Job requirements of Engineering Supervisor (Electrical)
As a senior member of the engineering team, this role combines strong technical expertise with effective people leadership to ensure the optimal performance of a small team responsible for electrical and electronic maintenance, project delivery, and continuous improvement across the site. This is a critical role in maintaining high standards of equipment reliability, operational safety, technological advancement, and long-term asset sustainability. Supervising and coordinating production activities while ensuring compliance with health & safety standards, the role promotes a strong safety culture, supports legal compliance, and ensures that all team members work safely and efficiently in line with company policies, systems, rules and procedures.
Main Duties
· Oversee and support electrical/electronic response to advanced breakdowns across all of the factory
· Provide electrical/electronic troubleshooting support to wider engineering teams
· Provide hands-on expertise in PLCs, control systems, sensors, instrumentation, and electrical distribution
· Lead and support engineering improvement projects, installations, upgrades, and automation initiatives
· Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within electrical and control systems
· Work collaboratively with engineering and operations teams to enhance performance and efficiency
· Lead, coach, and develop a team of electrical/electronic engineers (including couching apprentices)
· Allocate daily tasks and manage performance to ensure high-quality engineering support
· Assess site systems for obsolescence, resilience, and long-term sustainability
· Proactively highlight electrical, electronic, and PLC-related risks to the business and develop mitigation plan
What you will need
· An engineering qualification of min. NVQ level 3 in electrical engineering/maintenance
· To be motivated and able to use your own initiative
· Excellent communication skills are a must for liaising with internal departments and external contractors
· Ideally you will have experience working with food processing and packaging equipment, however training on this specialist equipment can be provided for the right candidate
