Year 2 Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from June 2026
This Year 2 Teaching Assistant role is within a primary setting where pupils are supported by a calm, inclusive environment and benefit from well-planned teaching that helps them build knowledge securely. Staff work collaboratively to ensure pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn, with positive relationships underpinning both academic progress and personal development. Leadership places strong emphasis on consistency, staff development, and meeting the needs of all learners.Duties as
Year 2 Teaching Assistant
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities for Year 2 pupils
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and support progress
- Assist with the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials
- Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional development
- Support pupils with additional needs, adapting activities where required
- Help to maintain a safe, organised, and inclusive learning environment
- Supervise pupils during lessons, interventions, and other school activities
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and follow school policies at all times
Ideal Year 2 Teaching Assistant
- Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in Key Stage 1
- Demonstrates a caring, patient, and supportive approach to learning
- Is able to work effectively as part of a team and follow teacher direction
- Has good communication skills and builds positive relationships with pupils
- Shows initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting pupil progress
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and child development
