Healthcare Support Worker Personal Care - Emergency Department

The Emergency Department is the busiest in the East of England, seeing in excess of 140,000 new patients each year. We are in the process of developing new effective ways of working, and your role will be to support and work within the team to achieve high quality and compassionate care for our patients.

As post holder, your duties will include

  • Welcome patients and visitors to the Emergency Department, providing clear, courteous and efficient information and support.
  • Respond to enquiries and liaise with clinical teams, security and support services to ensure timely and accurate communication, reducing demand on clinical staff.
  • Support patient flow and overall patient/visitor experience within the department.
  • Assist patients with personal care, including washing, toileting, dressing, eating and mobility, ensuring dignity and compassion at all times.
  • Support the nursing and clinical team by undertaking non-clinical and basic care tasks, enabling timely assessment and treatment.

You will work flexibly within a 10:00–22:00, 7-day service, reporting to the ED Unit Manager.
