We are currently recruiting a Prevention and Support Service Assistant to join our team. This role is to work 1:1 with young people and deliver group work projects that will provide opportunities for young people in Thurrock, as part of the Prevention and Support Service.

You will be working with a small team of Youth Workers, Family Support workers and social workers across Thurrock, to facilitate young people's personal, social, and educational development, often working with vulnerable young people.

Prevention and Support Service works across Thurrock, supporting families and young people, in partnership with Thurrock Council partners, to achieve positive outcomes.

We are seeking an unqualified/Qualified Youth Worker who has experience in working with young people in a youth work setting and who is familiar with the national occupational standards of youth work.

Skills required include

  • Ability to identify the different needs of young people and develop programmes to meet these
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Patience, empathy, and the understanding of young people's issues
  • Excellent record keeping evidencing the outcomes and work with young people
  • JNC youth work qualification and or prepared to gain JNC youth work qualification

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required, at Enhanced Level for this role.
