About this role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary children’s diabetes team. This role is an additional role due to an increase in funding for this service and will join our current paediatric diabetes Dietitian. This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, helping them and their families build confidence in managing nutrition, insulin therapy, and healthy lifestyles.

You will provide specialist dietetic care to infants, children, adolescents, and their families within paediatric diabetes services. Working closely with consultants, diabetes specialist nurses, psychologists, and wider allied health professionals, you will play a key role in delivering evidence-based nutritional advice and education tailored to individual needs.

The successful candidate will support patients across outpatient clinics, deliver education sessions, and support inpatient care to improve long-term health outcomes and quality of life.

  • Deliver specialist dietary assessment, treatment, and education for children and young people with diabetes.
  • Support carbohydrate counting education, insulin adjustment principles, and healthy eating guidance.
  • Assess carbohydrate intake alongside continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data and digital platforms to inform personalised care and optimise glycaemic outcomes.
  • Support the nutritional management of type 1 diabetes with hybrid closed loop insulin pump therapy.
  • Provide dietetic counselling on the management of coeliac disease and high cholesterol where indicated.
  • Develop personalised nutrition care plans for patients with complex medical and social needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and contribute to integrated care planning.
  • Provide education and support to families, schools, and carers.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audit, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay up to date with current clinical guidelines and evidence-based practice.
