About this role

Buckinghamshire College Group is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of IT to lead and develop our IT services across all campuses.

This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring the delivery of a reliable, secure and high-performing IT infrastructure that supports both staff and students. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering the College's IT strategy, driving innovation and ensuring systems and services meet the evolving needs of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage IT services across the College, including networks, telecommunications, and technical support
  • Ensure the security and integrity of all IT data, including robust disaster recovery planning
  • Manage and develop the Tech Support team
  • Deliver an excellent IT service to staff and students, with a strong customer-focused approach
  • Lead IT projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to maximise the effectiveness of IT systems
  • Ensure compliance with software licensing and data protection legislation
  • Support College-wide initiatives, including merger planning and systems integration

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience managing IT services within a complex organisation
  • Strong knowledge of networks, systems infrastructure, and IT operations
  • Experience leading and developing teams in a busy, customer-focused environment
  • A track record of managing budgets and delivering IT projects
  • Strong understanding of data protection and information security
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding service and continuous improvement
  • A relevant professional qualification (minimum Level 3) is essential, and a management or project management qualification would be advantageous.
