Special Education Teacher (Primary)

Our client, a highly regarded primary school in South Woodford, Greater London, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Full-time Special Education Teacher to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator who is passionate about supporting the unique learning needs of primary-aged students.

As a Full-time Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering tailored educational programmes that cater to the specific requirements of students with a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and behavioural challenges. Your role will involve working closely with the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), class teachers, and other support staff to ensure a collaborative and inclusive approach to supporting each student's progress.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Assessing and identifying the individual learning needs of students, and developing personalised education plans to address those needs
  • Planning and delivering engaging, interactive, and adaptive lessons that provide appropriate challenge and support
  • Utilising a variety of teaching methods, resources, and assistive technologies to facilitate student learning
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, and regularly communicating with parents/carers, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to support
  • Collaborating with the SENCo and other members of the SEN team to review and refine educational plans, and to identify and implement effective interventions
  • Maintaining detailed records and providing comprehensive reports on student progress and attainment
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the school's SEN policies and procedures
  • Participating in relevant training and professional development opportunities to continually enhance your knowledge and skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. ) or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), with a specialism in special education or a willingness to undertake additional training
  • Extensive experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a primary school setting, with a proven track record of supporting students with a range of special educational needs
  • Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum, as well as a deep understanding of evidence-based teaching strategies and interventions for students with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents/carers, and other professionals
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities
