Acute Medicine Consultant

As a Consultant in Acute Medicine, you will: Lead the diagnosis and clinical management of patients presenting to the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at Southmead Hospital. Provide regular ward rounds and clinical support to patients, alongside the junior medical team, ensuring high standards of patient care. Collaborate closely with colleagues across specialties to ensure a cohesive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Participate fully in the Acute Medicine rota, including early and late shifts, weekend cover (1 in 8 for 1 WTE), and Same Day Emergency Care shifts. Actively promote the work of the Acute Medical Unit and support Trust priorities around improving patient flow and reducing admissions. Be involved in teaching, audit, governance, and research within the AMU. Provide professional supervision and mentorship to junior medical staff, contributing to their development and the overall educational environment of the unit. Applicants should have a CCT or be within six months of achieving this at the date of interview or be listed on the GMCs specialist register to be eligible for application for a substantive post. CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.
