Operations Support Officer (TIS)

We are looking for an Operations Support Officer in the Technology and Information Services (TIS) department to provide essential day to day administrative and coordination support, helping our teams work efficiently and ensuring colleagues, customers and visitors receive an excellent service.

About the role

Working under the guidance of the Change & Improvement Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting teams across the directorate. You will contribute to the effective running of usual business activities while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across our services.

This role is full time, working 37 hours per week, on a fixed term basis as secondment cover until 30.06.2027.

You will

  • Provide flexible and effective operational support to teams across TIS.
  • Assist with supplier management, IT projects, small works and business as usual services.
  • Process orders, maintain accurate records, and complete financial reconciliation for the University credit card.
  • Organise senior management meetings, visits and events, including calendars, paperwork and logistics.
  • Produce accurate documentation and use a variety of systems to collate, input and maintain data.
  • Act as a first point of contact for visitors, customers and stakeholders, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Support onboarding of new starters and provide guidance or training where required.
  • Review and improve internal processes and contribute actively to continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with University policies, including safety, equality and regulatory standards.

This is a varied and collaborative role, well suited to someone who enjoys problem solving, building effective working relationships and operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

You should have

  • Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in customer service, office administration, minute taking and teamworking.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and maintain records with attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate successful events and meetings.
  • Experience in project support, procurement or supplier management, or process improvement activities would be advantageous but is not essential.
