About this role
The post-holder will be a Paediatric Surgeon with a CCT or within 6 months of completion of CCT. The role requires the ability to manage an acute neonatal and general paediatric surgical take, including a substantial quantity of paediatric trauma. The Post holder will be expected to support and develop the service which consists of neonatalsurgery,acuteand elective paediatric surgery
The post holder will join a team of 7 Paediatric surgeons based at the Royal London hospital, ofwhich 3 have an interest inPaediatricUrology. Consultants cover outreach work at Homerton hospital, Whipps Cross Hospital and Queen’s hospital Romford.
New Appointee will undertake 2 sessions of paediatric Surgery operating list and one Paediatric Surgery outpatient session alternate week, both new and follow-up cases andprovide training during some of these clinics to theirjunior doctorsandteachingto medical students.
· Provide a high-quality consultant-led paediatric surgical service
· Undertake paediatric surgery operating lists and outpatient clinics
· Participate in the general paediatric surgical on-call rota on a 1:6 basis, including prospective cover for colleagues
· Support the management of paediatric trauma admissions and contribute to trauma MDT working
· Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues across children’s services and partner sites
· Contribute to the teaching, training and supervision of junior doctors, medical students and nursing staff
· Participate fully in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development
