We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in the Cornwall area. This is an excellent opportunity to support children with a range of special educational needs within a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping pupils access learning and develop confidence, independence, and positive engagement within the classroom.

Responsibilities include

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and cognition and learning needs
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate positively in lessons
  • Delivering targeted interventions and assisting with differentiated learning activities
  • Creating a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, confidence-building, and independence

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs, whether within schools, care, youth work, or support work settings
  • A patient, resilient, calm, and empathetic approach
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, with confidence in supporting behaviour management strategies
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
