About this role

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our Skin Cancer Service.

The post holder will have expert knowledge and skills in dermatology and / or oncology skin cancer services.

They will work as an autonomous practitioner within a progressive and evolving service, delivering expert clinical care for skin cancer patients across Dorset.

The role includes delivery of independent ACP-led clinics within agreed scope of advanced practice, managing patients with stage I-IV skin cancer.

The post will a specific focus on education and workforce development, supporting the Skin Cancer Specialist Nurse team through teaching, training and clinical supervision.

Applicants should demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in dermatology and/or oncology skin cancer services, with a willingness to develop cross-specialty capability where required.

The role requires active professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Base Location

Cross-site working across Poole Hospital, Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Christchurch Hospital

This is a pivotal time for Dermatology and Skin Cancer Services at UHD, with significant opportunities linked to ongoing service transformation and innovation.

The post holder will

  • Work flexibly across all UHD sites (Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch)
  • Contribute to service improvement, innovation, and pathway development
  • Support the continuous development of staff skills, knowledge and clinical capability
  • Drive forward improvements that ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care

UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.

If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
