The Great Western Hospital respiratory nurses are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic nurse with respiratory experience to work within a well established team as a part time Band 6 respiratory nurse.
Together we provide care throughout the trust, review in-patients, triage out-patients, run asthma clinics and support procedures in pleural clinics and provide care for day-ward attenders.

Applicants need a good understanding and experience of the management of patients with long term respiratory conditions including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, NIV and pleural diseases. Training will be provided to expand existing knowledge. The successful post holder should have an interest in further development within all those areas as well as supporting the wider team in possible expansion of service to include ILD and biological therapies in COPD.
We would like you to demonstrate excellent communication skills; the ability to work within a team; and work autonomously to review patients; making recommendations and decisions whilst offering support and guidance to patients, relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

We are creating a heath and care system that works with the people we care for, reducing the differences people currently face in access, experience and outcomes, improving the experience of our colleagues and tackling shared challenges like sustainability and finances. Every improvement we make across our Group will be guided by what creates the greatest benefit for our colleagues, our patients, our communities and our partners.
The post holder will provide a specialist respiratory nursing service to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, both within the inpatient and outpatient setting.
The post holder will act as a resource to other healthcare professionals requiring specialist advice. To provide support and assistance to the respiratory team and other teams as required. To work in conjunction with the Band 7 Respiratory Nurse, promoting and maintaining excellent, safe practice and continuing to develop the role of the nurse specialist.
The post holder will strive to provide high quality care as well as aiming to achieve Trust objectives with respect to decreasing length of stay.
