Senior Clinical Fellow ST3 Acute Medicine and Cardiology

We are looking for two enthusiastic individuals to join our clinic team as we develop services within the Trust. Applicants will be expected to provide SpR-level (ST3+) medical cover for our inpatients. One post will be in Acute Medicine and one post in Cardiology, working as part of a multi-professional team.

This post would be perfect for doctors post Core-Medical Training/at registrar level who are keen to take a break from training and gain experience or qualifications in your area of interest. We have redesigned our trust doctor programme following feedback from previous cohorts. Our flexible model aims to meet the needs of doctors who have decided to break from training.

Acute Medicine

The Acute Medicine Team has responsibility for the Medical Take List Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00, 28 bedded Medical Admission Unit, 13 bedded Acute/General medicine ward, Medical Outliers and Same Day Emergency Care Unit with consultants and resident doctor rotating around each area. There is also a twice a week Hot Clinic that Registrars can support with to increase knowledge and skills.

Cardiology

Daily duties include, supporting the consultant during Post Take Ward Rounds, looking after inpatients, managing any referrals.

There is also RACPC (Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinics) twice a week.

There will also be opportunities for audit work.

The general medical component of the job involves inclusion on a full shift rota with the Specialty Registrars. This is currently run over a 18-week period and includes long days on-call, nights, twilights and weekend discharge shifts.

We are looking to cover these posts on a 2-year fixed term position although would consider applicants looking for 12 months fixed term positions.
