About this role
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the Clinical Engineering Department at Dorset County HospitalNHS Foundation Trust (DCHFT).
We have two vacancies, and the successful applicants will be part of a small team of technicians providingan effective and efficient Medical Equipment Library Service.
You will help to manage the medical devices held in the Library, delivering and collecting devices from around the hospital and providing effective device cleaning between each use.
No specific qualifications are required for this role as comprehensive in-house training will be provided.
The service operates Monday to Saturday between 07:00 and 16:00 therefore some Saturday working will be required on rotation.

The post holder will support the day to day operations of an efficient, effective and comprehensive Medical Equipment Library (MEL) at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post is primarily to support equipment management processes within the department including booking in of equipment, cleaning and functional checking and audits of medical equipment. The post also includes providing support in other areas of departmental activity, assisting the Clinical engineers in their day to day workshop activities, relocation of equipment, and other activities assisting and contributing to the management of medical equipment within the Trust.
The Medical Equipment Library loans a variety of medical devices to clinical areas for use in patient care and treatment. It aims to maximise the usage of devices held, ensuring their availability and fitness for use to aid patient safety. This post will be responsible for:
· Final decontamination and simple functional tests on all MEL devices.
· Organising MEL requests and everyday deliveries and collections as required
· Maintain accurate records of activity
· Maintain MEL premises.
· Working to a high standard of safety and accountability within the MEL protocols and procedures.
· First assessment on faulty equipment and minor repairs.
· Liaising with clinical, technical staff and managers.
· Providing technical support for clinical staff.
