Our client, a highly regarded educational setting in Plymouth, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Student Behaviour Support Mentor to join their supportive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally.

As a Student Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. Working closely with students, teaching staff, families, and external professionals, you will provide tailored support and guidance that promotes emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive engagement in education.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning and development.

Key responsibilities include

Providing 1

1 and small-group support for students with SEMH needs

  • Supporting students to develop coping strategies, emotional regulation, and resilience
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to implement behaviour support plans
  • Facilitating activities and interventions that promote social and emotional development
  • Building strong, positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and external agencies
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the school's SEMH provision and inclusive practices

The successful candidate will have

  • A relevant qualification in education, psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or behavioural needs (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective intervention strategies
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting young people
  • A genuine passion for helping students achieve positive outcomes
  • Competitive daily rate of £90 - £110, depending on experience and qualifications
