A welcoming and supportive specialist education setting in Tiverton is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their experienced team. This rewarding opportunity involves supporting children and young people with additional needs, helping them to feel safe, engaged, and confident throughout the school day.
This role would suit someone with experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.
Due to the nature of the role and local travel requirements, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include

Providing 1
1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs
- Supporting students with EHCPs to access learning and daily routines
- Building positive and trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and confidence
- Assisting with behaviour regulation and social development
- Adapting classroom activities and resources under the guidance of teaching staff
- Encouraging communication, independence, and active engagement in learning
- Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom environment
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and senior staff
- Helping to maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Your support will play an important role in helping pupils achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
We are looking for someone who
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND
- Demonstrates a patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
- Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team
- Is comfortable supporting personal care where required
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one
