The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in providing tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will help create a positive and engaging learning experience for all pupils.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Providing individualised support tailored to pupils' specific learning needs
  • Supporting learning activities on a 1:1 basis and within small groups
  • Assisting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Collaborating with teachers and external professionals to implement effective support strategies
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Promoting inclusion and participation across all classroom activities
  • Supporting pupils with personal care where required, while maintaining dignity and independence
  • Helping to maintain a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement in learning

Your support will play an important role in helping pupils achieve positive educational and personal outcomes.

About You

We are looking for someone who

  • Holds a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a related field
  • Has experience working with children with special educational needs in a school or similar setting
  • Has a strong understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and behaviour management strategies
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Is committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing, and engaging learning environment
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one
