A welcoming and supportive specialist education setting in Tiverton is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with additional needs, helping them feel safe, engaged, and confident throughout their school day.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.
Due to the nature of the role and local travel requirements, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will

Provide 1
1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
- Support students with EHCPs to access learning and daily routines
- Build positive relationships that encourage emotional wellbeing and confidence
- Assist pupils with behaviour regulation and social development
- Adapt classroom activities and resources under teacher guidance
- Encourage communication, independence, and engagement in learning
- Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom environment
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and senior staff
- Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Your support will play a key role in helping pupils achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
We are looking for someone who
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND
- Has a patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
- Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively
- Is comfortable supporting personal care where required
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one
