An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join the Diabetes and Endocrinology team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust as a Consultant Physician within a dynamic, progressive, and highly collaborative department. This post offers the successful applicant the chance to contribute to the delivery of high-quality inpatient and outpatient diabetes and endocrine services while working within one of the largest teaching hospitals in the Southwest. The role encompasses acute diabetes and endocrine referrals, leadership during specialty take weeks, participation in short stay ward care, and involvement in the general medical on-call rota, providing a varied and stimulating clinical workload. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop and expand subspecialty interests in line with departmental priorities and service needs, supporting the continued growth and innovation of the service. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the post holder will play an important role in undergraduate and postgraduate education, supervision and mentorship of trainees, multidisciplinary team working, clinical governance, audit, quality improvement initiatives, and research activity.
