About this role
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Theatre Practitioners (RN/ODP) with anaesthetic and/or scrub experience to join the Bristol Eye Hospital Theatre team.
We currently have full-time (37.5 hours) and part-time (26.5 hours) opportunities available.
The successful candidate will be expected to work a flexible shift pattern, including weekdays, weekends, bank holidays, and occasional extended hours to meet the needs of the service.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist ophthalmic surgical environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care across a wide range of ophthalmic procedures.
As a Band 5 Theatre Practitioner, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary theatre team, delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
You will be joining a team that is passionate about delivering high-quality care, continuous improvement, and staff development, with opportunities to expand your skills in a specialist surgical setting.
- Delivering high standards of direct and indirect patient care within the perioperative environment
- Supporting anaesthetic and/or scrub roles across a range of ophthalmic procedures
- Working under the guidance of senior staff to ensure safe and effective patient pathways
- Maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, infection prevention, and clinical governance
- Acting as a role model, demonstrating professional behaviours and supporting a positive team culture
- Developing skills across ophthalmic subspecialties and contributing to service improvement
- Supporting the learning and development of students, new starters, and junior colleagues
- Maintaining policies, Standards of nursing/ HCPC care and staff development, as part of the peri operative team.
- Take charge of the clinical needs of a group of patients on the department prioritising workload according to changing clinical need
- Ensure nursing documentation is maintained, accurate and timely in line with trust standards.
- To demonstrate awareness and compliance with trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. To work towards promoting this to others.
- Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients.
Administer medicines in accordance with trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.
- Respond positively and act promptly to resolve problems / issues for patients / carers, utilising complaints procedures and PALs where appropriate.
