Starlight Ward is our Paediatric Oncology, Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant inpatient ward. We are the principal treatment centre in the Southwest for Haematology and Oncology and a national referral centre for Bone Marrow Transplant. We have 17 cubicles and predominately care for 0–12-year-olds.

There is a robust ward induction and a thorough and supportive supernumerary period. On Starlight, we have a passion for education and a Clinical Skills Facilitator to support upskilling and competencies available for all nurses.

We have an in-house educational programme including introduction to cancer, advanced regional programme, Bone Marrow Transplant education and chemotherapy training plus external learning opportunities including conference attendance, university courses and modules.

We have vacancies for full and part time nurses who have completed their preceptorship with a minimum of 18 months Haem/Onc/BMT experience, SACT competence (or working towards), and any haem/onc/BMT/HDU courses are desirable.

If you are a registered adult nurse but have experience and competence in working with paediatric oncology patients, then we welcome your application. Unfortunately, we are unable to support nurses that require OSCE to register with the NMC UK.
