About this role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our small and friendly team at Blandford Community Hospital. This will involve working flexibly part time across our Treatment Room for minor procedures and in our Outpatients Department.

This is a diverse and interesting environment and the successful applicant will ideally have experience in these areas however enthusiasm to learn new skills will be beneficial.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an ability to provide a high standard of nursing care which is driven by patient experience and evidence based best practice. Enthusiasm, motivation and excellent team working skills are essential.

Our Outpatients Department supports a wide variety of specialist clinics such as ophthalmology, orthopaedics, gynae, oral and maxillofacial along with nurse led clinics including the Complex Leg Ulcer Service. This post will include rotation to our Treatment Room providing care to patients undergoing minor procedures.

This is a fixed term of 12 months, part time post working flexibly Monday to Friday (some weekend work may form part of the role in the future)

You will be required to provide professional clinical leadership to the unit on a day to day basis and to deputise for the departmental Sister in their absence, facilitating effective working relationships within the multidisciplinary team and external organisations.

To work within the minor op procedure room supporting clinicians and patients during procedures. To admit and discharge patients who are attending for procedures.

Provide nurse led complex leg ulcer clinics within the outpatient department.

You will use various computer systems to record patient care and activity and participate in clinical audit.

The role includes supervision of junior staff and students and appraisals for health care support workers.
