About this role

Sedgemoor Manor School are recruiting for a Qualified Therapist Counsellor to join our Therapy team. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and passionate people to become an integral part of our therapy team. The successful candidate will join our multi-disciplinary team, which may suit someone experienced in a special needs environment or newly qualified, who will be required to work closely with other Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals providing support to students; reporting to the Therapy Manager.

Sedgemoor Manor is a specialist day school for young people who have needs associated with a diagnosis on the autistic spectrum/SPLD and are aged between 7 and 18 years. Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of learning difficulties. We accept that young people who are referred to us may have previously experienced a ‘cycle of failure’ and our aim is to have a transformational impact on their lives by them experiencing a ‘culture of success’. We support all young people to achieve successful outcomes so that they can progress to experience fulfilling and rewarding lives.

About you

CBT experience or knowledge desirable

Manage and co-ordinate own caseload and implement individual EHCP/treatment plans for counselling

Have current BACP, UKCP or equivalent accrediting body membership

Must complete CPD as required by their accrediting body each year

Must attend regular supervision of at least 1 hour per half term

Receive and respond promptly to new students undertaking assessments to identify and prioritise student need. Planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis

Maintain accurate and timely records detailing each students progress and complete Annual Review paperwork when required

Maintain and develop close working relationships with school, teaching and support staff

Ensure clinical practice is in line with school policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards

Contributes to business growth by actively promoting the schools therapy services in line with personal and school targets

Maintains effective communication links with students, patients, relatives, carers, and stakeholders

Undertake training for school staff in line with EHCP requirements

To ensure that the required CPD is completed for ongoing registration

To engage children and young people in counselling sessions using a range of therapeutic

models and resources

To provide adhoc counselling sessions to students as and when required

The applicant will work in close partnership with a diverse team of Therapy and educational specialists to deliver tailored support that meets the needs of each young person. The applicant will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated support staff, committed to delivering the very best care. The successful applicant will receive a bespoke internal induction programme and the ability to network with Therapists across other Aspris sites.
