About this role
The Pastoral Lead Officer plays a key role alongside the Head of Year in promoting a positive
school culture, fostering high expectations and ensuring that students feel safe, supported and able to
thrive.
To promote and model the school's values (aspiration, confidence, kindness, responsible, respect and
resilience) whilst creating a strong sense of identity, inclusion and belonging within the year group.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Safeguarding
* Identify and support students at risk of harm, ensuring timely referrals to the Safeguarding Team
and external agencies where necessary.
* Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure safeguarding concerns are
addressed effectively.
* Promote a culture of safeguarding, ensuring students feel confident in reporting concerns.

High Standards & High Expectations
Behaviour
* Uphold high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality in line with the schools policies.
* Support staff in managing behaviour incidents, including de-escalation, conflict resolution, and
restorative conversations.
* Investigate behavioural incidents, gathering statements, reviewing CCTV, and logging information on
school systems ( Class Charts).
* Contact and work collaboratively with parents/carers regarding student behaviour, attendance and
welfare concerns.
* Organise and conduct reintegration meetings following suspensions, setting clear expectations and
support plans.
Uniform
* Ensure high standards of uniform are consistently upheld across the year group in line with the
school's policy.
* Address uniform concerns sensitively and consistently, taking individual circumstances into account
where appropriate.
* Communicate expectations clearly to students and parents/carers, reinforcing the link between
uniform, identity and our school values.
Attendance
* To support Attendance Officer to ensure students are safeguarded by: checking that registers are
accurate, N codes/truancies identified and resolved quickly, home visits etc.
* To identify and work with students who are struggling to attend to remove barriers eg EBSA,
parent meetings, RAG timetable, communications with key staff etc.
* To make first day absence calls to parents (Red Alert calls to be held by AO).
Student Welfare and Pastoral Support
* Provide individual and group support to students, addressing social, emotional, and behavioural
challenges.
* Act as a key point of contact for students needing pastoral guidance, offering a safe space for
discussions and support.
* Monitor student well-being and work with staff, parents, and external agencies to provide
interventions where necessary.
* Support students in developing confidence, resilience and positive attitudes toward school life.
Student Engagement and Personal Development
* Promote inclusion, diversity, and a sense of belonging among students.
* Organise and support pastoral initiatives, such as well-being workshops, mentoring programs, and
peer support schemes.
