Applications are warmly welcomed for a one-year, fixed term, full time Primary Care Specialty Doctor post, ideally commencing on early August 2026. The post is designed to provide emergency ophthalmology services for patients attending an open-door Emergency Department. This post may give the opportunity to rotate through subspecialties and potentially help with Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) subject to meeting competencies.
The BEH is a highly regarded Regional Centre for Ophthalmology which sits within the Division of Surgery at UHBW (recently rated Outstanding by the CQC). It provides a tertiary referral service for glaucoma, as well as providing support for the glaucoma care of patients in the closely linked supra-regional corneal, vitreoretinal, uveitis and paediatric services. The service is supported by a highly developed and pioneering optometry shared-care service, as well as a well-integrated electronic patient record with long-standing historical data.
The successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in the running of the service. They will also be expected to participate in the workload of the hospital and be capable of working to a flexible timetable.
